Eish-Bit; Becoming an Indie Game Designer in SA

One of my projects during my 3rd year of Graphic Design asked us to write an essay about one specific area of design, print out a physical copy and turn it into a book. Due to my passion in video games and game design, I chose to write about the past, present and future of South African Independent Game Design and explore what is needed to become an Indie Game developer. This essay involved research on South African game developers such as Free Lives and Celestial Games (along with games outside of South Africa for comparison), the game development process and digital distribution, I chose to call this book 'Eish-Bit' and while I'm still not sure what my mark was for the project, what I do know is that it was more than enough to earn me a Distinction in History and Theory of Graphic Design III and played a major contributing factor in allowing me to further my research on Game Design for my B-Tech Degree!
